‘Literature and the Reading Public: Challenges and Opportunities’ is a 12-month project funded by a British Academy Rising Star Engagement Award, and led by Dr James Underwood at the University of Huddersfield.

The project explores the challenges and opportunities involved in achieving high-quality and meaningful public engagement with the discipline of Literary Studies specifically. It’s designed to progress the conversation, and to provide training, networking, and other opportunities for a number of UK Early Career Researchers working in the field, with input from experts who have excelled in taking the discipline to the public.

The main features of the project will be the formation of a new network, a two-day intensive training workshop in January 2018, and a one-day collaborative workshop in February 2018.
